Finally! After one month of suffering, a Woot-Off has just begun! What is a Woot-Off you ask? According to Woot.com:
Q: I see some orange flashing lights on the main page – what do they mean?
A: No, you aren’t seeing a side effect from your allergy medication. You have found a Woot-Off, a short term frenzied mutation of our product posting procedure.
In Woot-Off mode, a new product is launched immediately after the sellout of the previous deal. There is a half-Woot-life of 12 hours maximum on any product within a Woot-Off that does not sell out. The number of Woot-Off items, sequence, and quantity will not be announced. When Woot-Off mode is over, the orange lights will disappear and our normal schedule will resume. Depending on its success, this may be a mode we would go into once or twice a month for a relatively short duration of time (24-72 hours generally.)
Be sure to download WootAgent to get up to the minute tracking during the Woot-Off.
P.S. WootAgent is still in v1.0 so the annoying siren won’t go away during this Woot-Off unless you turn off your volume. Sorry!
P.P.S. We started with 8240 downloads before the Woot-Off. Lets see where we end up at the end.

Recently we were interviewed by Kevin over at Juxtaviews and we had a fun time answering his interview questions. Hopefully in the near future more people will approach us with interview and media requests as we continue to grow. Here is a snippet from the actual interview:
Q: What type of testing did WootAgent undergo and what tools did you use to test performance and cross-platform capability?
We belong to several online communities with over 100,000 users, so it made sense to seek out beta testers interested in Woot! who could give completely unbiased opinions.

We found around 100 people who knew about Woot! and wanted to test the app out for us, and it turned out well. Initial testing was pretty simple. After testing the app, we had them fill out a simple form to give their opinion of the app and what they found wrong with it. Thanks to the beta testing we have only come across one issue since release. We only designed the app to run on Windows, though we’re looking into a Mac version, so that cut down many of the platform issues that could have run into. We really appreciate the help of all the beta testers too; it saved us a LOT of effort.
Q: How did the TechCrunch coverage you received benefit the product beyond exposure? And how did you go about acquiring TechCrunch coverage?
A: We emailed Michael over at TechCrunch telling him we were developing an app to help Woot! users and he picked it up and ran with it. We were elated when he posted his entry talking about WootAgent and to see all the positive feedback supporting endeavors like ours. It’s helped WootAgent be seen as a very ‘legit’ service and that is more valuable than anything else to us; being seen as THE app to use to keep up with Woot!.
We want to thank Kevin who took his time to put together this interview and help spread word about WootAgent. Thank you!

My partner and I are frequent readers of JohnChow’s blog, the miscellaneous ramblings of a dot com mogul. Listed as #2 on Google for ‘make money online’, Chow’s readers blog about his site using the keywords ‘make money online’, and in turn he posts their links and sends them traffic. This tactic has helped Chow’s blog climb up the Google ranks and make it as large as it is today.
We’ve decided that we are going to try and use this ‘blog for us, blog for you’ tactic in order to help bring WootAgent to the top of Google’s search for ‘Woot’. So, write a small review on your blog about WootAgent and in your review link to our site with the keyword ‘Woot’ and we’ll include you in our weekly list of reviews. Send us an email with the link to your review when it is complete.
