UPDATE: If you are running Windows XP you will need to Click on the Update.exe file after you extract the zip files and it will work. We are working on this minor bug. It seems there is a discrepancy with the way WootAgent works on Windows XP and Vista. Everything works fine with Vista.
We would like to know if there are any bugs with WootAgent 2.5. We have received one complaint regarding the recent release and would like to know if there are any more cases. We would like to find out if its an isolated case or not. Please post in the comments section if you find any bugs, thanks.

I installed Woot Agent the other day for the first time to monitor the Woot Off.
Now I notice that every time I first boot up Windows, my Windows/system32 folder pops up on my desktop! wtf?
I deleted the WootAgent folder, ran RegSeeker to clean registry, but now I still have this happen every time I first turn my PC on. Is there any way to get this to stop?
thanks

Hi Jon
I ran a scan of my C drive using Spyware Terminator (full scan mode) & it picked up a registry entry related to starting WootAgent. I removed it, rebooted - problem is now gone.

That key is used with the setting for Start With Windows. im glad the issue is gone now, il try and find out why that happened, ive never heard of that before. once again, i apologize for that issue

I also have the same issue with the system32 folder automatically opening on boot. What is the registry key that I should delete?

Hey guys, here is the registry key that WootAgent uses to load with windows:
HKEY+CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Run
then set that key to nothing (or a space if you want) and wootagent wont start with windows. if you just delete that key, then wootagent automatically recreates it because its used in the settings file. if you set it to nothing, then wootagent wont start on windows boot…
still working on a fix…

Is it possible to create a simple install file for it, with an option to “start with Windows” for those who desire it? That way it would only write that reg key for those who need it - tho’ having the sys32 folder do it’s desktop dance on each bootup is still kinda annoying =)

Once again, Im sorry for everyone this is happening to. I am trying to find why its happening, but i have yet to get an error message. So if someone would post the error message, that would help me a lot. I run Vista, which WootAgent works fine with, so it makes it that much harder to see why it doesnt work. Any information you can give me will help this be resolved faster. Thanks!

Win XP Pro- SP2 + here
is it possible to run the proggy setting via an .ini file, versus installing anything to registry ?
Obviously I know nothing about coding. heh
But I know (at least the older versions) of say Forte Agent can run completely independent of the registry
